Trying to understand the meaning only adds to the mystique of a song, as The Beatles explored even further in years to come. American Releases. America first heard "Yes It Is" only ten days after Britain did. It was the B-side to the Capitol single " Ticket To Ride ," which was released on April 19th, , just as their previous 1 single " Eight Days A Week " was falling out of the top ten.
Although Capitol only had the mono mix of the song, that didn't stop them from including it on their next make-shift album " Beatles VI. This album was then released on compact disc on January 21st, , both the mono and stereo versions of the album contained on one CD.
Sometime in , Capitol released Beatles music on a brand new but short-lived format called "Playtapes. These "Playtapes" are highly collectable today.
The next US release of the song didn't occur until October 21st, , on the double-album compilation " Love Songs. This elegantly packaged album peaked at 24 on the Billboard album charts and stayed in print until the late 80's.
Because of EMI's decision to release a box set that included all of the British Beatles albums as well as an additional album entitled " Rarities " that included songs that did not appear on any British Beatles album, Capitol had initially decided to release this album in America. These promotional albums are very collectible today. March 7th, was the official release of "Yes It Is" in stereo, as the original stereo mix made on February 23rd, was included on the compact disc " Past Masters, Volume One.
This double-disc set was then remastered and released on CD on September 9th, and on vinyl on November 12th, This was the second track of the double-CD set, following right after the debut release of the new Beatles track "Real Love. Just before John breaks his guitar string during the bridge, Martin fades in the last half of the finished "take 14" with the excellently performed vocal harmony overdub. This album debuted at 1 on the Billboard album charts and sold over two million copies.
Not to be forgotten is the box set " The Capitol Albums, Vol. This four disc set featured the entire " Beatles VI " album, including "Yes It Is," in both stereo and mono, although the stereo version is actually the "duophonic" stereo mix created from the mono mix as contained on the original album. Capitol mistakenly presented a "mono type-B" fold-down mono mix for the entire " Beatles VI " album, which was a method that combined both the left and right channels of the stereo mix to create a mono mix.
Live Performances. The Beatles realized from the cumbersome process of recording the song that it would be extremely difficult to reproduce it live, so they chose not to include it in any concert performances or BBC radio recordings.
However, the usual pattern of promoting both sides of their current single led them to lip-sync the song three times for British television. The first was taped on March 28th, for the show that brought them to national television fame for the first time in January , namely " Thank Your Lucky Stars. Finally on April 11th, , they lip-synced the song one last time, along with " Ticket To Ride ," for the live broadcast of "The Eamonn Andrews Show.
Probably due to Lennon's misgivings about the song, they dropped it forever from their repertoire at this point, never to touch it again. John Lennon was known to be very critical of songs he had written, especially those considered favorites by most Beatles fans. The closest thing to a positive remark regarding "Yes It Is" was his statement: "It's the slowest we have ever put out, but it has a beat. But I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion Song Summary.
John was far too dismissive of this song. This song make me cry. Even though John died many years ago, I am still sad about his death. Hard to believe he did not like his own singing. While trying to get over a breakup I made a mixtape of songs that captured the loss I was feeling.
I like that its not played that often. It makes the hearing that much more special. I put it in my top ten Beatles songs. Those sounds are guitar pedal variations? Great recording and song. Just a bit out tune on the vocals on the first verse, then near perfect after that; but the mistakes and intonation errors have always been part of the charm, for me. You know the music was done by real people—one of the things missing today in our time-corrected, auto tuned music.
One could moreso forgive the tuning on these harmonies as these are quite a bit more difficult compared to This Boy. Interesting how many people here raise the possibility that the girl in the song might have died.
Impossible the lyric to refer at the loss of his mother and Lennon diminishes the song in such a cynical way afterwards, during the 70s. Father you left me but I never left you.
Yes it is is clearly a beatly love song. One of many that he disdained once and for all, wrongly imo. Necessary cookies are absolutely essential for the website to function properly. A culture of internet only jobs has coined the phrase Wirk. Wirk simply means Internet Work. Internet work is defined by job opportunities that did not exist before the rise of the internet and furthermore the work is likely to be carried out over the internet and payment received for work undertaken via the internet.
Wirk describes both full time and part time internet work. Because of the nature of Wirk and the ability for anyone that has internet connection to earn money from Wirk, it is currently more likely to be a part time occupation than full time. This is a term rising in popularity.
Potato salad, another staple, can be pretty bland. The fresh flavor of the potatoes was allowed to shine through. Our black-eyed peas were a happy accident, then. These were cooked soft but not mushy, the texture of the skins supporting a mild flavor that was not over salted.
These were sweet but not cloying. Rich sweet potato flavor was a good match for the seasoning. On the day we tried the place, our choices were German chocolate cake, Seven-Up pound cake, and caramel cake. We were glad to have ordered early, as all desserts were gone by the time we picked up our order at 4 p. Our German chocolate cake was lovely, its dense cake enhanced by nutty, coconut-filled frosting. The caramel cake, also dense, was just as good, with smooth caramel frosting.
Both cakes were fresh and clearly handmade.
